certified organicGrooveprints is a library of sorts for creative thought and music.

Our forte' revolves around "Organic Drum Tracks" created by Bill Ray, a Grammy-Award winning drummer who lives in Southern California. The tracks are more like "Drum Solo Performances" in that BR goes to the studio and lets fly from the imagination whatever rhythmic idea happens to be pinging around like a loose screw at the moment.

The tracks are done sans metronome and represent an organic time feel and groove; something in this day & age of digital perfection is somewhat of a dying commodity. While it's a great asset for a drummer to sound like a machine, retaining the "human factor" can sometimes be overlooked. Slight imperfections, rim clicks, tiny rushes in the pulsation from beat to beat make each track a many-faceted gem for the purposes of sampling, looping, or just "trying to keep up with the curve of the creation".

If fresh organic drumtracks are what you seek, then look no further.

So I just saw this track come through today....."Stop The Funky War" and immediately I'm struck by the creativity put forth and the message it carries. I cannot get behind a song any more firmly than this one! It's instantly my favorite song at the moment!

Props must be given unto the following: rustyjam for his incredible remixing talent. Also props go to Brad Stanfield and his amazing project for the great backing tracks. I will attach my name to any project promoting peace and happiness.

Props to the OB Rag

Having a boatload of students is a great accomplishment; it requires focus, passion, and a limitless thirst for attention to detail and keeping fresh ideas flowing. As an instructor of many years, I can fully relate. Oftentimes our lessons would center around "Drumless MP3s" and the ability to chart out the piece and play it.

My drum performances all follow a distinct line; as the instructor and someone who is familiar with form and flow, you shall be able to pick out the ebb & flow of the pieces. Some are very distinct, while others have some rather treacherous curves and time shifts. No matter, plotting a rhythmic course within the harmonic focus should be rather fun and challenging, or at least I can hope so.

Sven-Erik Seaholm is a well-respected independent record producer with over 250 recordings that bear his remarkable ‘Midas touch’. He has received multiple Los Angeles and San Diego Music Awards, including three for “Record Producer of The Year” and several for “Album of The Year”.

He’s also a well-known singer and songwriter. Recent solo releases include Sotto Voce and Upload, as well as his band The Wild Truth’s This Golden Era and his contributions to super-group side project, Allied Gardens. This pop renaissance man’s myriad other skills include album art designer and published photographer, and he writes a monthly column entitled The Zen of Recording for San Diego Troubadour Magazine, which will be expanded into book form in the not-to-distant future.

Currently, Sven is recording and performing alongside singer/songwriter Brooke Mackintosh as the aptly named “modern-vintage acoustic soul” duo, Seaholm Mackintosh.

So....I've been brainstorming over ways to "alter the course of modern music". How does one achieve something so lofty? By putting one foot in front of the other and beginning the arduous climb toward the summit of whatever it is that one seeks. There's plenty of ideas in my mind, and I'm sure that with the power of the internet and creative brilliant people, we can do it!

When I was 17 years old I went into the studio and played a drum solo. A buddy of mine laid a guitar track over the top of it and it was so cool that the local college station put it into rotation. Fast forward 25 years, and I'm still doing the same thing, only with many people; if one person can get the product of our imagination onto the airwaves, what can be accomplished with the power of many?

Albums

Currently we are offering MP3 versions of the files. However, we are working on developing new stuff in many different formats, and they will be made available upon their completion.

Also, you may check out what has been spawned from these tracks. The artists mentioned here have completed some amazing work! Check it out...

The Odd Get Even is the result of Bill Cornish, a very taleted keyboardist that currently resides in the San Diego area. He scooped up the drum tracks and put forth not one, but soon to be two very incredible efforts of composition!

Somewhat of a cousin to the whole project, The Journeymen is a very 1970's reflective piece composed by Neil Macpherson, my friend and former bandmate in Santa Cruz. He had a few months off and created a very amazing piece of work. Reminds me of old Return to Forever stuff!

Our new tracks section is a constantly evolving area; the newest tracks shall be displayed upon this grouping.

We are very much into capturing genres of music as well! Some of our forte' heavily involves Blues Music; all kinds of shuffle grooves, begat from playing literally thousands of blues gigs over the years. Fresh ideas that are unique and intriguing.

New formats on the way!

I've had plenty of requests for the tracks in various formats. Coming soon to this site are .WAV and "Rex" files. Understand this- I know very little about the electronic world of music. I'm oldschool when it comes to drums. I play a kit and as much as I know about computers, the two "sides of me" never, ever connect. My digital thing is on one side, and my analog thing is on the other. This endeavor is as far as I've come to "crossing over".
